About Us

Mission Statement

We are a Christian country fellowship striving to follow Jesus in our families, our community, and our world.

-We will continue to care for one another and will keep in better touch with our members.
-We will be respectful and open to what all our members and church friends have to say.
-We will reach out in service to the Whitelaw community and will extend invitations to our neighbors to join us in worship and/or fellowship.
-We will emphasize Christian, spiritual practices and values in our programs among our church families and our community.
-We will be more aware of our world situation and more deliberate in supporting outreach efforts to provide hope and to share God’s love around the world.
THERE’S A PLACE FOR YOU IN OUR COMMUNITY OF FAITH!

For generations, the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church has welcomed men and women and their families from Whitelaw and the surrounding communities.

Our congregation is made up of down-to-earth, plain, country folks, who gather to praise God and to share in fellowship with each other and with Jesus Christ. You don’t need special qualifications to be a valued addition to our circle; just come as you are!

Our worship on Sunday morning is centered on Jesus Christ and builds on our tradition as part of the Reformed family of churches. Bible-based sermons bring God’s Word to the 21st century and call us to live our daily lives following Jesus. Music is important for us, and the joyful sounds of our voices, bells, and organ are projected across our neighborhood by the carillon bells in our steeple.

Our Sunday School children are awesome. We continue to share a message with the children on Sunday morning’s; however, to accommodate the changing world of their sports activities that sometimes conflict with Sundays, we now gather together monthly on a Friday evening for “Family Faith & Fun Night” to allow for more participation at which time we share a meal together, a lesson where we continue to learn about the heroes and heroines in the Bible and how God works with us today as God worked with them long ago, and then we end with a special craft. Children and adults alike seem to enjoy these special evenings together.

In addition to Worship, Music, and Sunday School, we have several other Fellowship opportunities throughout the year. Women’s Home Circle allows for the women to come together in Christian fellowship to nurture each other and to support the church in its mission through fund-raisers such as bake and craft sales; Friendship Club is for individuals and families of the community featuring a dish-to-pass supper followed by a program; and our Annual Old Home Day is the delight of the Whitelaw Community. It begins with a parade and closes with fireworks at night. In between, crowds of adults and children enjoy musical entertainment, arcade food, a chicken barbecue, games, and there is always an exciting auction.

And a major outreach of our church is the support we offer one another and the community in times of joy and sadness. Through pastoral and congregational care, we respond to the needs of individuals and families facing a death, serious illness, job loss, or other crisis; and we also volunteer and provide financial support to the Opportunity Shop Food & Clothing Pantry in Canastota and the Canastota Area Association of Churches’ Loaves and Fishes Feeding Program.

We invite you to stop out and join us for worship and/or one of our special events where we hope you will feel the special love of God that we share at Whitelaw Presbyterian Church!
