Summary of Leadership Team meeting on September 23, 2014

The Presbytery's Leadership Team held its monthly meeting on September 23 at Pebble Hill Church. The following are items that were discussed at the meeting...

The Leadership Team received the draft of the 2015 budget for the Presbytery, and, after discussion, voted to recommend its approval to the Presbytery, following updated information being provided by HR regarding salary proposals and by Steve Plank re website and internet costs.

One of the decisions of the Presbytery that was adopted in the final report of the Administrative Commission for First Presbyterian Church United in Syracuse was that "a task group (of three to five persons)... be established to begin working with the leadership of the Missional Initiative (later known as Isaiah's Table)..." The Leadership Team elected the following people to serve on this Task Force: Howard Rose (chairperson), Tim Fay, Dave Graham, and Deb Thomas. The Presbytery determined that this Task Force would provide:
1.A continuing relationship with (Isaiah's Table).
2.Updates to the Presbytery on (Isaiah's Table's) progress.
3.Oversight in the relationship between the Presbyterian Foundation and (Isaiah's Table).
4.Leadership to see that a yearly audit of funds from the income stream is accomplished and shared with the Presbytery.

The Camping Ministry work group reported that the Vanderkamp Board had received earlier this year the decision of James Davis to leave as Executive Director. The Board proceeded to enter into a search process and was pleased to call Bill and Penny James as the new Executive Directors. They moved to the site and began their ministry on Labor Day.

The Committee on Ministry work group will be recommending to the Presbytery minimum terms of call for 2015. This includes a recommended 1.7% increase over 2014 figures. (Note - COM recommended, and the Presbytery approved, no proposed increases for 2014. Therefore this is the first proposed increase in two years.)

The Human Resources work group reported that they are in the process of conducting the one-year employment review for Steve Plank, the Stated Clerk/Communicator.

The Finance and Property work group recommended approval of the sale of the King Ferry manse, which Leadership Team approved.

Steve Plank,
Stated Clerk/Communicator
